Head Chef: Timothy Mayo
Tapas 177 Lounge, named “A Top Pick in Rochester” by USA TODAY© in 2005, has been located in the heart of the Saint Paul Quarter for over 12 years. Tapas continually provides an exquisite dining and entertainment experience in an atmosphere of candlelit brick, textured stucco and rustic dark woods. From the music to martinis, to the menu and wine list, Tapas strives to bring nuances of big city nightlife to Downtown Rochester. When guests visit, Tapas is always on the list of ‘what to do’ in Rochester.
Head Chef Timothy Mayo, born and raised in Rochester, was delighted to revisit his roots after studying in Hawaii. Timothy is a motivated, high-energy chef with a passion for all things edible. He took the helm in September of 2007 and promises creative adaptations to the fusion cuisine for which Tapas is already well-known. “All I think about is food,” says Tim... “I am excited to add some of my own flair to the Tapas menu.” For example, the Chorizo Stuffed Braciola in savory smoked tomato coulis, and the Sweet Chili Glazed Spare Ribs over arugula and roasted goat cheese are two popular new additions courtesy of Mr. Mayo.
While Tapas adopts new menu items seasonally, you can always find the tried and true favorites such as...The Famous Tapas Calamari Salad, Lemongrass Crusted Tofu (Vegan), Seared Sea Scallops with Sherried Shitakes (plus those delicious sauces!) and Pan-Seared Ostrich Filet...to name a few. So, settle in to their glowing grotto-like dining room for an unforgettable gastronomic trip from Chicago to Barcelona and back. You might be surprised what Downtown Rochester has to offer in Tapas!
PS: The Spicy Jambalaya and Shrimp Alexander are back!
