www.wilkesbooth.comAs one of the longest running hard rock/heavy metal bands in the Rochester area, Wilkes Booth traces its N.Y. origins back to 1994, when guitarist Dave Wilkes Booth returned after a 7 year stint playing the prestigious Sunset Strip in LA.
Wilkes Booth had landed a record deal in L.A. but the timing was bad. The music scene basically changed overnight! The Seattle “Grunge” scene exploded.
Within a year of returning to Rochester, he had assembled a high energy band including front man Bobby “Rocker” Fredericks, bassist Jason Carter and drummer Mike “Oxbig” Fittos. This lineup played live extensively and recorded their debut CD Blows U Away in 1996, which sold out and received airplay on several college radio stations locally.
Wilkes Booth has been unrelenting in their passion for a classic hard rock sound. They have ignored trends in favor of playing fiery covers of Van Halen, Black Sabbath, Jimi Hendrix, Montrose, Ozzy Osbourne, Motley Crue, Poison, Bon Jovi, Metallica, Steppenwolf, White Snake and many others. Wilkes Booth originals are played in that same passionate vein.
Their second release One Night Stand came out in the spring of 2003, recorded with Kevin Rappenecker on bass guitar. It also received some attention from college radio. The CD sold internationally due to the power and interest of the internet.
Longtime members Booth, Fredericks, Fittos and Rappenecker have been recently joined by veteran player Mike DiTomassi on keyboards, guitar and vocals. With the band’s third release set for 2011, Wilkes Booth is set to continue putting out “High Energy Rock” for many years.
