Framing Edo
The Memorial Art Gallery opens a new show on September 21. Framing Edo: Masterworks from Hiroshige’s “One Hundred Famous Views” will remain on display in the Lockhart Gallery at 500 University Avenue thru January 13. Drawn from the extensive collection of Professor Arthur R. Miller, these beautiful prints by Japanese artist Utagawa Hiroshige represent his visual technique as well as his nostalgic response to change after Japan opened to the West in the mid-1800s.
