Guitarist/composer Colin Cannon’s music has been described as a fusion of modern jazz laced with funk, rock and drum ‘n bass. A graduate of Berklee College of Music, Cannon has opened for such jazz legends as Ron Carter, Russel Malone, Brain Auger and Karrin Allyson. Originally from Rochester and now based in New York City, he can be seen performing regularly at such NYC clubs as the legendary 55 Bar and Café Vivaldi as well as The Shrine in Harlem, the LIC Bar and Rockwood Music Hall. Cannon’s debut CD, In Summary, earned universal praise from reviewers including All About Jazz – “Cannon’s keen sense of harmony recalls on more than one occasion Pat Metheny;” and Knocks From The Underground – “Cannon’s guitar wizardry will appeal even to listeners who fancy themselves more rock aficionados than jazz.” His latest is Glenville, which Ian Patterson of All About Jazz describes as “a strong follow-up with plenty to savor.” The Colin Cannon Quartet features Cannon on guitar along with Manami Morita on piano, Zak Croxall on bass and Tom Hartman on drums.
