Enjoy Turkish hospitality, culture and cuisine during the
Turkish Art & Folk Festival, September 7-9.

•Oh no!  It’s the last ZooBrew of the season! Held at the Seneca Park Zoo, 2222 St. Paul St., the event will be filled with live music, great food and adult beverages. •The Olde Orleans Erie Canal Festival is slated for September 7 & 8 in Downtown Albion NY.  The event celebrates the agricultural, commercial, and cultural heritage of the region; and features family activities, historical exhibits, a quilt show, a music hall and vaudeville show, chicken BBQ, an old time farmers market and more.  Visit www.orleanscountytourism.com.

•Wood Library invites the public to a gala fundraiser on September 7 at Sonnenberg Mansion and Gardens, 150 Charlotte Street in Canandaigua.  Wood, Wine and Song will feature regional wines, music by T.W.O. and catered food from A Touch of Class.  A live auction emceed by The Honorable Brian Kolb and a silent auction are also part of the event.  Visit www.woodlibrary.org/wws for details.

•Traditional music is a highlight of the annual Rochester Irish Festival, taking place this year on September 7 thru 9 at Camp Eastman on Lakeshore Boulevard, Irondequoit.  This year’s lineup includes The Mahones and Derek Warfield & The Young Wolfe Tones as well as our own Dady Brothers. •The Turtle Hill Folk Festival, held September 7 thru 9, promises a weekend of music featuring concerts, workshops, dancing, camping, and food.  The event will take place on the Rotary Sunshine Campus, 809 Five Points Road, Rush NY.  (See our Coming To Town section for details on the featured performers.)  Call (585) 234-5044.

•Running September 7 thru 9 at the Turkish Society of Rochester, 677 Beahan Road in Chili NY is the 17th annual Turkish Art & Folk Festival.  This event offers live music, traditional dancers, great Turkish foods, a fortune teller, arts & crafts, children’s activities and more.  Call (585) 266-1980.

•On the “worth the drive” list for early September is the 5th annual Niagara Falls Blues Festival.  Running September 7 thru 9, the free “Roots of the Blues” weekend promises performances by James Cotton and a slew of others.  Visit  niagarafallsbluesfest.org for details.

•Opening on September 8 for its 15th consecutive year is the Long Acre Farm’s Amazing Maize Maze.  The field will be open for eight weeks and promises family fun for all ages.  Long Acre Farm is located at 1342 Eddy Road in Macedon.  Call (315) 986-4202.

•September 8 is a big day in Victor, NY.  There are Hang Around Victor Day activities planned that will find community organization exhibit booths, live music, arts and crafts, food and family entertainment throughout the day in Meade Square Park and the Village Hall Parking Lot (585-742-1476); along with the annual Victorfest taking place in the same locations which offers evening music by area bands, a “Taste of Victor” restaurant samplings, a table of sweets, and fireworks.  Call 585-742-0140.

•At the Finger Lakes Natural Living Fair, held in Onanda Park, 4965 West Lake Road in Canandaigua, there will be children’s shows, holistic speakers and workshops, drum circles, live music and more.  The event is scheduled for September 8.  Call (585) 703-4676.

Lost Secrets will be explored at the Mt. Hope Cemetery on September 8, leaving at 12:30 p.m. from the South Entrance.  The walk provides an examination of symbols, inscriptions and funerary art that expressed views of life, death and immortality in the 19th century.  Call (585) 461-3494.

•On September 8, AIDS Care will present Rochester’s White Party at the Century Club, 566 East Avenue.  The event offers a variety of musical entertainment, food, drinks and more.  Guests should plan to wear their best white attire for an elegant evening.  Call (585) 210-4217.

Pittsford Celebrates on September 8 with games, rides and family activities, festival-style treats and a day-long music schedule featuring headlining band, Ruby Shooz.  The fun is capped off with fireworks over the canal.  Events are centered at the Municipal Parking Lot behind Pittsford Community Library, in Downtown Pittsford.  Visit www. townofpittsford.org.

•Oak Hill Country Club at 145 Kilbourn Road will host the Pluta Cancer Center’s 13th annual Emerald Ball on September 8.  The gala features a champagne reception, dinner and a live auction.  Call (585) 486-0571.

•There will be perennials and woody plants that have been cultivated from varieties in the Eastman House gardens for sale at the George Eastman House Plant Sale.  The event will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on September 8 at 900 East Avenue.  Call (585) 271-3361.

•The Rochester Public Market at 280 N. Union Street, hosts a Women’s Screening Health Fair on September 8.  Free screenings for cardiac health, glaucoma, skin cancer and more will be offered.  Call (585) 428-6907.

Autumn In the Village of Livonia NY is scheduled for September 8.  There will be food vendors, music, arts & crafts and more family fun from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.  Visit www.livoniany.org.

•Mendon Station Park at 1371 Pittsford-Mendon Road will be the site of the annual Mendon Station Festival on September 8 & 9.  The event offers great food, music by local bands, horse drawn wagon rides, games, pony rides, the work of local artists and craftsmen, and more. Call (585) 624-3182.

•The highly anticipated Clothesline Arts Festival is planned this year on September 8 & 9.  Rochester’s largest and longest-running fine art and crafts festival features work by more than 400 artists from across New York State.  There are also food vendors on hand; and there will be continuous live entertainment and free family art activities on the grounds of the Memorial Art Gallery, 500 University Avenue.  Call (585) 276-8900.

•On September 8 & 9, the Macedon Center Community Lumberjack Festival will be held on the Firemen’s Field, Canandaigua Road in Macedon Center NY.  This amateur and professional lumberjack competition features a greased pole climb at 5 p.m. on both days, a craft and collectibles sale, commercial exhibitors, kids’ activities, food vendors and lumberjack pancake breakfasts.  Call (315) 986-3732.

•A festival devoted solely to  Accordions and Concertinas will be held on September 9 at the Hickory Ridge Country Club, 15816 Lynch Road in Holley NY.  The afternoon features presentations, mini concerts, demonstrations and more.  Call (585) 343-9313.

•The Rochester area Dollhouse & Miniature Show will be held on September 9 at The Green Lantern Inn, 1 East Church Street in Fairport.  This benefit for the Perinton Food Shelf will feature all kinds of miniatures by vendors from all over the world.  Call (585) 223-2613.

•Billed as “the largest local food and wine tasting event,” the Foodlink Festival of Food is planned for September 10 at the Rochester Public Market, 280 N. Union St.  The event promises a huge variety of vendors showcasing all the area’s finest food and drink.  Call (585) 328-3380.

Greentopia 2012, which runs from September 10 thru 16, is a week-long celebration of sustainability and the green movement, including a film festival, a concert by local and national artists, a business-to-business conference, and an EcoFest featuring green vendors, speakers, a farmers’ market, a kids’ zone, wine and beer tastings, music, organic food and more.  The event centers on the High Falls Historic District.  Visit www.greentopiafest.com.

•The Last Daze of Summer weekend, held from September 13 thru 16, celebrates the end the summer season with an eclectic mix of music over four days at the Sterling Stage Kampitheater, 274 Kent Road, Sterling NY.  The festival is complete with camping, vendors and food.  Call (818) 212-9489; or visit www.SterlingStage.com.

•The 5th annual ImageOut Festival Fair, held on September 14 at the RMSC Strasenburgh Planetarium, 657 East Avenue, will include hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar, and a thirty minute Programmers’ Preview of trailers for the 2012 LGBT film event to be held this year from October 5 thru 14.  Call (585) 301-5163.

Oktoberfest at Camp Eastman, now celebrating its 25th anniversary, is slated this year for September 14, 15 & 16 and 21 & 22.  The event promises live music by the Holzhackern Tyrolean Band, the Krazy Firemen, Classic Memories, the Spitze Band, the Genesee Valley Alpine Band, and Richard Brandi; along with great German food and drink.  Call (585) 336-6070.

•At the September 15th Tastin’ the Blues event in Veterans’ Memorial Park, 3100 Atlantic Ave. in Penfield, there will be plenty of blues music to enjoy.  Featuring Steve Grills and the Roadmasters and The Scandals, the party will also offer chili judging and locally brewed beer sampling.  Call (585) 340-8655.

•The 4th annual Springwater Fiddlers Fair & American Crafts Show will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on September 15 at Sugarbush Hollow Farm, 8447 Pardee Hollow Road in Springwater NY.  Musicians of all ages from all over Upstate New York and from as far away as Florida will be on hand – offering workshops, a Grand Jam and more.  Crafters from within a twenty mile radius will provide items that can only be found only locally.  There will be plenty of great food available as well.  Visit  www.springwaterfiddlersfair.net for details.

•Linear Garden on East Main Street will host the 6th annual North Winton Village Festival of Crafts on September 15.  Running from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the event will include live music, plenty of food and unique arts & crafts.  Visit www.northwinton.org for further details.

•On September 15, a premier museum event is planned at the Genesee Country Village & Museum, 1410 Flint Hill Road in Mumford NY.  LobsterFest in the Village features a lobster and steak dinner, open bar, tours, auctions and more; with all proceeds from the fundraiser going to support the museum’s mission and programming.  Call (585) 538-6822; or visit www.gcv.org.

Geology at Mt. Hope Cemetery will be explored on September 15 in a walk that starts at the North Gatehouse.  Geologist Bill Chaisson will share the early history of our area in the cemetery, one of the only places where it can be seen first hand.  Call (585) 461-3494.

•The Maplewood area of Rochester hosts two special events on September 15.  First, a day of visual delights is in store as five architecturally unique homes in the region open their doors for the 2012 Maplewood Home Tour with the Maplewood YMCA at 25 Driving Park Ave., serving as the home tour headquarters.  Later, starting at 7:30 p.m., the Maplewood Festival of Lanterns – complete with a drum circle, a Native American flutist, and lanterns suspended from trees – is planned in the area surrounding the gazebo at the Rose Garden.  Resonanz performs.  Call (585) 473-2234.

•Ezra & the Storm will perform at the 8th annual Hamlin Music Fest & Car Show taking place on September 15 at Hamlin Station Bar & Grill, 52 Railroad Avenue in Hamlin NY.  Visit www.HamlinStation.net.

•The 36th annual Rochester Depression Glass Show is planned for September 15 & 16 at the RMSC Eisenhart Auditorium, 657 East Avenue.  Quality dealers from across the northeast and midwest will offer Depression Glass and China.  Call (585) 544-3315.

•On September 15 & 16, the Keuka Lake Wine Trail Food & Wine event will taking place in the vineyards surrounding Keuka Lake will offer wine tastings and food pairings, each highlighting regional flavors.  The event is a celebration of the Harvest Season.  Visit www.keukawinetrail.com.

Artist Row, a project presented by the friends of the Rochester Public Market & the City of Rochester along with Summit Federal Credit Union, will take place on September 16 at the Rochester Public Market, 280 N. •Casa Larga Vineyards at 2287 Turk Hill Road in Fairport NY hosts their 17th annual Purple Foot Festival on September 16.  Celebrating harvest time, the festival is best known for its authentic old world grape stomping event.  There are also family activities, strolling entertainment, live music, a magic show, tours and both beer and wine tastings.  Call (585) 223-4210.

•A chance to view the Fall Foliage by Trolley and Train is offered by the New York Museum of Transportation/Rochester & Genesee Valley Railroad Museum, 6393 East River Road in Rush NY on September 16, 23 & 30, October 7, 14, 21 & 28 and November 4.  Enjoy the beauty of autumn in Western New York from the windows of an authentic 80-year-old electric trolley car.  A diesel locomotive with two cabooses will meet the trolley for continuation to the museum.  No reservations are required.  Call (585) 533-1113.

•The First Niagara Rochester Fringe Festival will run from September 19 thru 23 in over twenty venues in downtown Rochester.  Performers include dance groups, bands, variety acts, theatre companies, filmmakers, comedians, children’s entertainers and many more.  Some of the acts you are national and international shows with performers arriving from London, NYC, LA, Chicago and elsewhere – the Harlem Gospel Choir, Patton Oswalt, The Bicycle Men, A Night of Laughs, The Event and more.
