The Rochester Red Wings vs. Columbus Clippers @ Frontier Field, May 31, June 1-8

RED WINGS/YANKEES SEASON CONTINUES

The Scranton W/B Yankees will continue their home series against the Toledo Mud Hens at Frontier Field, One Morrie Silver Way, thru May 31 – with games at 7:05 p.m.; and a 12:05 p.m. start scheduled for May 31.  Right on the heals of that series is an eight game stand featuring the Rochester Red Wings.  On June 1, 2, 3 & 4, they will take on the Columbus Clippers – with starting times of 7:05 p.m. each day except on Sunday, June 3 when a 1:05 p.m. opening is scheduled.  Next, our Red Wings take on the Norfolk Tides at 7:05 p.m. from June 5 thru 8; except on Thursday, June 7 when the game is scheduled for 11:05 a.m.

ROCHESTER RHINOS HOME FOR TWO

WESTERN NEW YORK FLASH HOME FOR TWO

LPGA TOURNAMENT

The 2012 Wegmans LPGA Championship is scheduled to be played from June 4 thru 10 at Locust Hill Country Club, 2000 Jefferson Road in Pittsford.  This year’s purse is $2.5 million and promises to draw top golfing talent including Melissa Mel Reid.  The event annually attracts over 100,000 attendees; and involves over 1,900 community volunteers pulling together.  Television coverage – on the Golf Channel – will be on Thursday and Friday from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.; and Saturday and Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m.  Scheduled events in this year’s tournament include a sunrise walk and breakfast featuring a talk by Dr. Raj Pyne and Dr. Michael Rivero on June 5, followed by Practice Rounds.  The Verizon Pro-Am will be on June 6 starting at 7 a.m.; with the “Conversation With Champions” planned at noon.  That event will feature Lorie Kane and Danny Sharp, Karen Stupples and Bobby Inman; Stacy Lewis and Travis Wilson; and Lexi Thompson and Greg Johnston – each player/caddie pairs.  Round One of  LPGA Competition is on June 7,  with the Century 100 Wine Celebration offering tasings from over 50 wineries planned from 6 to 9 p.m.  Round Two is on June 8 with a Beer and Foods Pairing Party that evening.  Round Three is on June 9 and the Final Round is on June 10 with Closing Ceremonies scheduled for 7 p.m.  Call (585) 427-LPGA.

• The Roc City Roller Derby host a double header on June 2nd, starting at 6 p.m., at the Dome Arena, 2695 East Henrietta Road.  At this event, the B-Siders will take on Garden State Roller Girls’ Brick City Bruisers; and the RocStars will face Philly Independence Dolls.  Visit  www.rocderby.com.

• On June 3, the 9th annual Pittsford Triathlon will be held starting at Thornell Farm Park, 480 Mendon Road.  The course consists of a 300-yard swim in the Pittsford Mendon High Pool, a 15-mile bike race and a 3.3 mile run.  You can register online at  www.townofpittsford.org.

Clarkson Rodeo Days are scheduled for June 7 thru 10 at Hafner Park in Clarkson NY.  The charity event, which entertained more than a thousand guests last year, will start on Thursday with Team Sorting; and continue with a Rodeo Performance on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  Saturday also features a Chicken BBQ, live music, pony rides, face painting, a petting zoo and vendors; and a Cowboy Church is scheduled for Sunday morning.  Call (585) 283-4134.
