Abby Wambach & The U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team Bring Their “Victory Tour” To Sahlen’s Stadium, September 1 vs. Costa Rica

U.S. WOMEN’S NATIONAL SOCCER TEAM IN TOWN

RED WINGS SEASON FINALE @ FRONTIER

Finishing out the regular season of play at Frontier Field, One Morrie Silver Way, are several games featuring our Rochester Red Wings.  On August 22, 23 & 24, they will face the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs at 7:05 p.m.  Then, the Buffalo Bisons take the field against Rochester on August 30 & 31 at 7:05 p.m. before thruway rivals, the Syracuse Chief complete the season on September 3 with a 1:05 p.m. match against the Rochester Red Wings.  Call (585) 454-1001; or visit www.redwingsbaseball.com for further details.

 

BUFFALO BILLS PRESEASON GAME

A pre-season home game is scheduled at Ralph Wilson Stadium, 1 Bills Drive in Orchard Park NY, on Saturday, August 25.  The 7 p.m. match features the Buffalo Bills against the Pittsburgh Steelers.  Call (716) 648-1800.

 

AMERKS STREET HOCKEY FEST

The Rochester Americans will host their first ever Amerks Street HockeyFest on Saturday, August 25.  The one-day tournament will be held at Frontier Filed, One Morrie Silver Way, with games starting at 9 a.m. (check-in at 8).  The coed event is open to boys and girls 17 and under with trophies awarded in several divisions.  Visit  www.amerks.com for details.

•At the Finger Lakes Casino and Racetrack, 5857 State Rt., 96 in Farmington NY, the New York Oaks will be run on August 25, featuring NY Bred 3-year old fillies with a purse of $75,000; and on September 3, two races are planned – the Lady Finger Stakes with NY Bred 2-year old fillies and the Aspirant Stakes featuring NY Bred 2-year old colts and geldings.  Both of those races carry an estimated $100,000 purse. •Venues throughout Monroe County will host the Courage Games Northeast from August 31 thru September 3.  The Courage Games celebrate the service, sacrifice, honor and competitive spirit of our men and women in uniform.  It is the only international amateur athletic event of its kind for active duty military, reserves, veterans and their families.  Visit  www.essfoundation.org.

•August 25… Vino & The Beasts, the first ever 5K run/walk and obstacle course through Three Brothers Wineries and Estates, 623 Lerch Road in Geneva will find participants enjoying free wine and beer tastings, and admission to a post-run celebration with live music.  Call (315) 585-4432.

•August 27…The 18th annual Pro Ad Golf Tournament benefiting the Ad Council of Rochester, will be held at Brook Lea Country Club. Golfers can take part in the tournament and enjoy a professional swing analysis; and for the non-golfer there is a games tournament planned featuring darts, a bean bag toss, bocce, horseshoes and more.
