Alsia’s Debut CD, “Lined With Silver” Will Be Released On iTunes October 14.

Benefits:

Raise the Roof, a benefit for Genesee Center for the Arts & Education (located at 713 Monroe Ave.) is planed on October 7 at Water Street Music Hall, 204 N. Water Street.  The proceeds will go toward maintenance of the historic firehouse that has served as a non-profit Arts Center for 40 years – their roof is in danger of caving in! Krypton 88, The Driftwood Sailors, Steve Grills & The Roadmasters, Moon Zombies and others will lend their talents to the event.  (www.geneseearts.org)

•On October 12, the Main Street Armory at 900 East Main Street will host Music For Life, a fundraiser to save the music education programs of Rochester City Schools #17 & #19.  Dubbed “DJ’s & MC’s.” the show will feature over a dozen of Rochester’s favorite DJ’s in three different rooms  (585-831-7615/www.facebook.com/FansMusicForLife)

 

News:

•A new Rochester band, Cold Sweat, performs on October 5 at Johnny’s Irish Pub, 1382 Culver Road.  Their act plays blues and r & b, as well as standards and originals.  Members include Steve Casilio on guitar, Mike Giugno on drums, Beth Sciarratta on vocals, Ray Sciarratta on bass and Joe Armone on keys. Rani Arbo, a New England-based singer/fiddler who’s appeared at the Newport Jazz Festival and toured with Joan Baez, joins fellow songwriters Jeffrey Pepper, a Syracuse-based John Lennon Songwriting Contest winner and Rochester’s own Maria Gillard on a three-city tour of Upstate New York.  The three will perform at the Kirkland Art Center in Clinton on October 5; at the Tango Café, 389 Gregory Street here in Rochester on October 6; and at Creekside Books in Skaneateles on October 7.  (585-271-4930)

CD Releases:

•Two Rochester acts will be celebrating new releases on October 5th at Dub Land Underground, 315 Alexander Street.  The Jam Band, Aqueous’s latest is Willy is 40; and Rochester Roots Reggae act, Mosaic Foundation’s latest EP is entitled Do Right.  Both will perform tunes from their new ones.  (585-232-7550)

•The Infrared Radiation Orchestra will celebrate their new CD, Preparing the Feast of Skeldon, on Friday, October 5 at Tommy’s, 45 Railroad Avenue in Newark.  The band describes this new one as “soul searing psychedelia simmered…in a pure pop punkabilly puree.”  (315-3331-0714)

•The pop/country stylings of local vocalist, Alysia, has led to her sharing the stage with such artists as Charlie Daniels, Jason Michael Carrol, Sarah ‘Buxton and Josh Gracin.  Her debut album, Lined With Silver, is being released via iTunes on October 14th.  Local musicians Jonny Cummings, Jeff Helfer, Mark Terranova, Greg Gefell and Brian Ayers are featured as guest artists.  (www.alysiamusic.com)

 

Instores:

•The House of Guitars at 645 Titus Avenue will offer a live instore performance as well as a demo and clinic with Andy Irvine on Monday, October 8.  The internationally known bassist is an endorser of Warwick basses.  Autographs and photos are welcome…And, at noon on Tuesday, October 16, an instore meet and greet with John 5 is planned.  Formerly Marilyn Manson’s guitar player, he’s now with Rob Zombie and will be appearing later that night at Main Street Armory.  Again, autographs and cameras are welcome.  (585-544-3500)
