"A Ride With Matt" Benefit Concert @ Nola's BBQ, June 24

Late Night Sessions:

•After the Jazz Festival ends each evening, Abilene Bar & Lounge at 153 Liberty Pole Way will offer Late Night Sessions featuring some of Rochester’s leading musicians as well as musicians from the Festival, starting around 11:15 p.m.  The free sessions will feature Dang on June 22; Grand Canyon Rescue Episode on June 23 & 27; Walri and Friends on June 24; Krypton 88 on June 25; Herb Heins and his Pro-Am Jam Band on June 26 & 29; The Ruckus Juice Jug Band on June 28 and Sarah Rush & Silvernail on June 30.  (585-232-3230)

 

Benefits:

•On Sunday, June 24, a benefit concert will be held at Nola’s BBQ, 4775 Lake Avenue.  Big Eyed Phish, the Aaron Austin Band, Hemi Cuda and DDrive will perform at the event – free to attend with donations accepted to support A Ride With Matt, raising awareness of Huntington’s Disease.  Bands will begin at 3 p.m., and perform until 9 p.m. – rain or shine.  (www.aridewithmatt.com)

•On Saturday, June 16, Cabo Frio and The Jazz Exchange will preset a Jazz for Food Benefit Concert Evening at the German House, 315 Gregory Street with singer Miche Fambro pianist Jean Prosper, singer Cinnamon Jones, Nate Rawls, the  S.W.A.N. Community Band and the Jimmie Highsmith Jr. Experience also performing. (585-209-3191)

A Benefit Concert For Maureen Piccione, who is battling cancer, is planned on June 17 at the Greece Baptist Church, 1230 Long Pond Road.  Organized by Heartland Concerts, the event will include performances by Watkins and the Rapiers, along with a pick-up bluegrass band consisting of Perry Cleveland, Paul Swiatek, Sam Asher and Brian Coughlin.  Steve Gretz and Leslie Lee will open.  (www.heartlandconcerts.org)

 

Instore Events:

•On June 15, John Petrucci of Dream Theater will do an Instore Meet and Greet from 1 to 3 p.m. at the House of Guitars, 645 Titus Avenue; and on June 23, a special demonstration on Gibson Guitars will be given by guitarist Overhand Sam.  Autographs and photos are welcome at these free events.  (585-544-3500)

 

More Shows:

•The Firehouse Saloon at 814 S. Clinton Avenue will host a CD Release Party for UpState on June 23.  Band members Kevin Donnelly, Michael Piper, Jordan Evans and Mike Domizio will celebrate their latest, Young Go Hards.  (585-319-3832)

•On June 17, Lovin’ Cup Bistro & Brews is offering a show starting at 7 p.m. featuring the local a cappella group, Cut Off followed by Ball in the House, a band from Boston who’s performed with the Beach Boys, Jessica Simpson and others.  Lovin’ Cup is located at 300 Park Point Drive.  (585-292-9940)

•The Neo-Folk World Rock ensemble, HuDost, appears in concert on June 27 at MuCCC, 142 Atlantic Avenue in support of their most recent album, Trapeze.  The band, featuring singer/songwriter Moksha Sommer and guitarist Jemal Wade Hines, has toured the U.S., Canada and Europe.  (www.muccc.org)
